WAYNE H. LAMBERT

President of Showcrafters Inc., Wayne has worked professionally in technical theater for over 20 years. He estimates that he has actually been paid for about 2 weeks of that time.....but please don't tell Uncle Sam! The rest he's done because he likes the Bohemian lifestyle.

After receiving his Masters Degree in Theater from Trinity University in 1979, he discovered there was no money in legitimate theater and that living in a car was unsanitary. (Apparently he overslept the day the "How to Make A Living in Theater" chapter was discussed.) He became a roofer and college teacher instead. Those jobs were too challenging so he decided to become a "business executive."

He knew that was where the real money was.

He joined Showcrafters in 1984 and became an "executive" with a paintbrush. In fact, he still owns trousers that will stand up in a corner for easy storage because of all the hardened paint globs. (Wayne is left handed so the left leg is particularly stiff.) As an owner of Showcrafters, Wayne has become not rich....but he's gained a lot of unpleasant experiences. Nowadays, the actual shop work at Showcrafters is done by folks making a lot more money than he ever did. Wayne mostly sits behind a desk all day and punches buttons. (At least being a lighting designer is cleaner.)

Corporate theater has become his main pursuit. A few of the production companies he has worked with includes: Disney Entertainment, Corporate Magic Inc., Aquilla Productions, Castrigno and Co., Jack Morton/Caribiner, MJM Creative and Carlson Marketing. Corporate clients include: General Motors, IBM, Nortel, Saturn, Lennox, Kawasaki, Alcatel, Subaru, Saab, Compaq and MCI.

He's designed sets and lights all over the place, for both theater and corporate events. He's worked at theaters in the Dallas area including the Dallas Theater Center and The Meyerson Symphony Center, as well as toured to the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. He has designed lights in ballrooms and convention centers around the country: New York, Chicago, Nashville, Las Vegas, Orlando....He's also worked internationally in Tokyo Bay, Dubai, Cancun, Jamaica, Montreal and Toronto.

But none of that really matters anymore because he now prefers to sit at home with his family and do nothing. (He has a teenage daughter but he uses the term "family" to include her also.)

He has also sold original artwork and cartoons for cheap prices.....mainly because he's running out of places to store them.

If you're really interested Wayne can send you a list of all the really important stuff he's done...and maybe some show pictures also (for $19.95 + $28.95 shipping).

Or you could call his personal cell phone if he had one.
